The last decade has seen an unprecedented shift in economic focus from the West to the East. To keep in step, the Human Resources function has also turned its attention to Asia, trying to accomplish the twin objectives of accelerating functional maturity and adapting people practices to suit regional requirements. Western HR practices in most Asia-based organisations are slowly but surely giving way to people solutions developed in Asia.
The Asian Human Capital Award (AHCA), jointly organised by the Singapore Ministry of Manpower (MOM) and the Human Capital Leadership Institute (HCLI), has identified and celebrated successful people practices in Asia for the past five years. These are compelling stories of innovative solutions developed to address HR challenges that organisations face in Asia. Human Capital Insights is a compilation of 24 such stories woven into five themes — Employee Engagement, Talent Management, Learning & Development, HR Technology, and HR-Business Partnership.

Human Capital Insights: Is Developing Global-Asia Talent a Pipe Dream?
HCLI, in collaboration with the Singapore Ministry of Manpower, has recently launched a book titled “Human Capital Insights”. In conjunction with the book launch, HCLI is organising a 3-part webinar series on Talent Management, HR Technology, and Learning & Development in Asia.
Using the case studies published in the book, these webinars will delve into what makes HR unique in Asia and what it takes to implement successful people practices in this vibrant part of the world.
In the first webinar, we will explore the theme of Talent Management. There are strong impetuses for companies in Asia to develop and manage talent. Part of this impetus is driven by the fact that economic centres of the world have shifted eastward from the US and Europe to Asia, leading to a situation where the demand for talent in Asia far outstripping what the region can currently readily supply.
HCLI will partner with an HR practitioner from one of the organisations featured in the book, to discuss potential challenges in developing talent in Asia, and the possible roles organisations can play to accelerate development of talent in this part of the world. We will also highlight innovative talent practices from our book, Human Capital Insights.
Programme:
- Developing the Global-Asia Talent Pipeline: Role of regional HR (20 minutes)
- Sharing of case study from a company featured in the book (20 minutes)
