Overall, the survey findings highlight the business challenge of driving business growth amidst competition and cost pressures, as well as talent challenges of talent scarcity, leadership shortages, competency gaps and employee expectations.
In response to these challenges, organisations in Asia are adopting various approaches. Popular practices include the pursuit of diversified recruitment channels, leveraging of the employer brand during recruitment and investment in graduate (or entry-level) programmes. The survey findings suggest that most of the talent efforts are focused on immediate, tactical priorities (e.g. efforts to retain talent), and less on future-oriented strategies (such as leadership development).
The recommendations proposed in the last section of this report emphasise the need to balance both strategic and tactical people objectives by optimising internal and external infrastructure synergies across the talent ecosystem.
